A survey has revealed the UK's favourite seaside resorts and two of the
best stag weekend destinations are sitting pretty at the top of the list.
The survery was carried out by consumer organisation Which?, who asked 4,217 adults to name their favourite seaside resort and what they liked about it.
Lads on a
stag do in Blackpool may be more interested in the nightlife attractions, but the Lancashire resort came top of the list with its Pleasure Beach, famous tower and illuminations given as the reasons for the vote.
Brighton in Sussex received praise for its promenade, pier and proximity to open countryside, although
Brighton stag weekends are most famous for its seaside nightclubs and lapdancers.
Rochelle Turner, head of research for Which? Holiday, said: "Millions of Brits will be taking holidays at home this year. It's certainly one way to ensure you don't fall victim to volcanic ash.
"While Blackpool may not be able to guarantee the weather, with its host of theatres, fairgrounds and every conceivable promenade entertainment, it's easy to see why the granddaddy of seaside towns still manages to draw the crowds."
