Cambridge is famous for its first class university, but even if your body consists of more beer than brains, don't let that put you off choosing Cambridge for your stag weekend. This city may not be as loud and busy as some of the more well known party towns like Leeds or Manchester, but don't let that fool you. It has a ton of top quality night spots that will keep even the liveliest of stag groups entertained.
How to Get There
The main roads accessing Cambridge are the M11 and the A14 which partly circle the city. The train station has direct links into London and is about an hour away so if you're a stag group looking to escape from the big smoke for a weekend then train is probably the easiest way to go. That way you don't have to worry about driving back with a hangover.
Daytime Attractions
Cambridge is a beautiful and historic city and perfect for lazing about in or sitting outside during nice weather and enjoying a pint or two. There are a range of activities we offer our Cambridge stags from Newmarket Racing, five a side football, archery, paintballing, clay pigeon shooting and much more. These activities are perfect to break up the day get your blood pumping before you get ready to hit the town at night. You might even want to take in a famous boat trip punting on the River Cam. A great way to see the city and keep your eye out for any stunners, which is what sightseeing is really all about.
Festivals and Events in Cambridge
If you're planning ahead and want to know what's going to be hot in Cambridge when you're there on your stag weekend, here are some of the main festivals throughout the year.
Cambridge Folk Festival: Fancy taking in a bit of folk music? Whether you want to get involved or avoid it like the plague, this is happening in Cambridge from 30th July- 2nd August 2009.
Cambridge Beer Festival: Taking place for one week in May since 1974, if you're in Cambridge for this event you'll be treated to a range of over 200 different types of beer!
Cambridge Film Festival: Now moved to September, The Cambridge Film Festival is thought to be one of the best in the country so if you're a film buff and thinking of having your stag weekend between the 17-27th September 2009, this is one to bear in mind.
Nightlife in Cambridge
There are plenty of great pubs peppering the map of this distinguished city making for a good pub crawl. Around the University of Cambridge there are some top little boozers, particularly along St. Andrews Street and Regent Street where you'll find pubs like The Regal, The Fountain Inn, the Avery and Prince Regent. There are also some good little late night clubs in that area that will have you singing, drinking and dancing till the wee hours of the morning. Look out for The Soul Tree, The Place, and the Fez Club.
