If you are hoping to enjoy a lapdance while on your
Edinburgh stag weekend then your hopes may rest with Sarah Vernon, a former showgirl who is taking on the Scottish Government over plans to ban the 'artform'.
The 34-year-old, who has just finished work on a PhD in striptease and strip club culture, say a ban would infringe performers' human rights and damage Scotland's economy. We can certainly echo her sentiments as it would hurt the booming
stag weekend trade in the Scottish capital.
The Scotsman quoted Ms Vernon as saying: "I was a dancer for many years. I'm a big advocate of freedom within adult entertainment. Under human rights laws, if everyone is consenting, you have a right to dance around naked because that's your freedom of expression."
