Stag parties have been warned to avoid following Welsh rugby star Andy Powell in getting into trouble driving a golf buggy while under the influence of booze.
The Wales back row forward has been axed from the team and will appear in court next month having been charged with drink-driving after being arrested with a golf buggy at a motorway service station.
The 28-year-old had apparently decided to go and grab an early breakfast close to the spa hotel in the Vale of Glamorgan where his team were staying after beating Scotland in the Six Nations championships.
However, as the hotel's breakfast facilities were yet to open he and another man found a golf buggy outside the hotel and made the short trip to the service station where he was breathalysed and found to be over the limit. He was charged with "driving a mechanically propelled vehicle whilst unfit through drink".
So lads on a
golfing stag party should remember this tale if they enjoy a drink or two in the clubhouse mid-round and then decide to make their way around a course on a golf buggy.
