The country may be in the midst of a recession, but Brits are still willing to splash the cash to enjoy that all-important stag do, new research has shown.
According to a study by Hotels.com, the average male reveller spends as much as £179 celebrating their final night of freedom.
But while stag parties are happy to shell out for a big weekend away, it seems most brides-to-be are keen to cut back, with hens spending a more modest £118.
Alison Couper, director of communications at Hotels.com, said: "Traditionally, the wedding day is all about the bride, so it would seem that many grooms use their stag do as an opportunity to share the limelight ahead of the big day."
The poll also revealed a third of men venture outside of the UK for their celebrations, with European party destinations such as Prague stag weekend, Amsterdam stag weekend and Tallinn stag weekends proving popular.
According to the trivago Hotel Price Index, stag parties could bag a bargain overnight stay, with room rates across Europe having fallen by seven per cent in the past 12 months.
