'Never a better time' to visit London

According to VisitLondon, recent exchange rate fluctuations have driven up the cost of travelling to many foreign destinations.

Indeed, the pound recently slumped to a record low against the single European currency, which means the cost of a break in places such as Spain and Italy has gone up.

Therefore, cost-conscious consumers who want to enjoy a break have been encouraged to stay in Britain and go to places such as London.

Sally Chatterjee, chief executive of Visit London, commented: "There has never been a better time to consider London."

She added that visitors to the city would be able to enjoy value for money in and around unique and unusual venues.

The comments coincide with the news that Air Southwest is to offer more flights between London and Devon and Cornwall.

According to the airline, this should prove to be a cost-effective alternative to expensive rail fares.
