A Night out in Manchester

Categories: Things To Try

Famous for The Stone Roses and Oasis, Manchester has shed it’s image of swaggering walks and thick eyebrows to become renowned as a City that offers a superb night out. I’ve been on several occasions and even though a scene or two has been erased from my memory I still remember it as a busy, loud and fun city with an almost unrivalled passion for drinking and good times. It makes it the perfect place to host a night of drunken debauchery.

With over 500 licensed places, and between 110-130,000 visitors on a typical weekend night, Manchester has become accustomed to showing revellers how it’s done. There are plenty of drinking areas to suit everyone from the laid back to the party animal and some of the most popular areas are listed below:

Deansgate

This is the main street through the city centre. Stretching for a mile it’s a popular location for restaurants, stylish cocktail and casino bars and is an ideal place to start your evening.

The Northern Quarter

This is becoming a very popular place to go out in, in Manchester and if you’re looking for something more independent than high street, the Northern Quarter may steal your vote over Deansgate. Set amongst record shops and independent retailers the bars follow suit and offer a great variety of pubs and live music venues for those who are looking for a an unpretentious, friendly and fun night out.

Canal Street – The Gay Village

Okay, probably not the first thing that springs to mind on a stag do, but don’t be so quick to rule it out or you could be turning your back on a great night. Made famous by the hit series Queer as Folk it is very popular by the straight crowd as well.

Peter Street Area – Stag and Hen central

There are some stylish bars here, but the real pulse of this area is for partying. Cheesy and easy it’s an attraction for fun loving groups including stag and hen parties and it’s within easy reach of Deansgate so could be the next stop on the city bar crawl. You’ll find plenty of party venues, usually with drinks promos and popular music and best of all masses of people all looking for a good time.
