What is Off-Roading

4 x 4 or off-roading applies to driving a vehicle which has power and traction going to all four wheels instead of two. What this means is that you have much more control and power of the vehicle and it can handle much more challenging terrains. The most common makes of off road vehicles are Land Rover and Jeep and as well as being a popular choice for WAGs, they're actually more impressive when they're not clogging up the high street but are churning up mud in a field. What was once primarily developed for agricultural uses has now become a recreational sport, because driving over crazy bumps is just cool. There are different types of recreational off roading from sand dunes, mud bogging and even rock racing. You won't need to know all this for your experience, just know what these mean machines are capable of.

What can you expect?

There might be different formats to the experience for example you might have a lesson with an instructor who will teach you how to get the most out of your 4 x 4 experience including handling inclines, controlling the vehicle through door height water and how to drive into ditches and out again. You might also decide that you want to see exactly what your 4 x 4 vehicle can do when in the hands of a pro. Buckle up in the passenger seat and get ready to dig your nails into the seat because when you're tipped face forward at a near vertical incline, you're going to want to grab onto something, and the instructor's leg just isn't cool.
