People planning stag weekends or holidays have been advised to make sure they thoroughly research their trip before they book.
Sian Williams, country manager UK for price comparison site trivago, said that too many Brits use just one site or agency to formulate their travel plans thinking they are getting the best offer.
However, with a recent survey by trivago revealing that three-quarters of Brits are holidaying on a reduced budget this year, she suggested that people should take time to shop around.
Those looking to book a stag do overseas or a weekend break in the UK could make significant savings on the cost of a trip simply by planning ahead and comparing prices across different agencies.
"Some of the savings could be up to £100 and that could be a lot of extra spending money," Ms Williams added.
According to research from Visit London and Visit Britain, 90 per cent of the UK population are looking to reduce their spending as a result of the recession, with almost half planning to cut back on holidays and day trips.
