Raith Rovers striker Graham Weir may have been quick off the mark to fire his side to the Scottish First Division title, but the soon-to-be-married footballer almost missed out on his own stag do.
Weir struck just 45 seconds into Raith's crucial promotion battle against Queen's Park to kick start the club's championship party with what proved to be the only goal of the game.
But despite having double cause for celebration, the player almost left friends and relatives at his stag do waiting, the Daily Record reports.
Speaking after the victory, Weir said: "The only down side is that the team bus has broken down so I'm going to have to catch a lift because I've got 20 folk waiting for me at my stag party."
Weir no doubt had no shortage of offers from grateful fans who would have been only too happy to give the goal scorer a lift back after the win secured Raith's promotion to the First Division.
The club has suffered playoff heartbreak in the past two consecutive seasons, so players and fans alike will have been relieved to ensure automatic promotion this time around.
