Rooney 'set to snub Ferdinand's wedding invitation'

Rio Ferdinand's stag do celebrations are likely to feature a host of A-list celebs, but it remains to be seen whether teammate Wayne Rooney will be in attendance.

According to the Mirror, Rooney is set to snub an invitation to his fellow England star's wedding - which takes place this summer - after Ferdinand failed to show up at his own ceremony last June.

A friend told the newspaper that invitations to the wedding between Ferdinand and fiance Rebecca Ellison will be sent out soon, but Rooney's attendance remains far from certain.

"Rio suspects Wayne is likely to decline but he's still going to send him one. It looks like he'll be wasting a stamp," the source said.

Whether Rooney shows up or not, guests who do attend can expect to see no expense spared as the couple celebrate their matrimony.

Ferdinand is reportedly planning to enlist the services of a trained owl to act as ring bearer for the event, which will see the bird swoop down at exactly the right moment to deliver the rings on time.
