Stag parties hoping for a weekend of sun, sea and sand - and no shortage of booze - might be best advised to jet off overseas to avoid disappointment, according to one expert.
While the credit crunch may have prompted some revellers to opt for a short break in the UK rather than venture abroad, it seems the British weather is set to let us down.
Ian Bradley, a spokesperson at the Association of Independent Travel Operators, said the heat wave earlier this year prompted many people to book a holiday in the UK.
But after a revised Met Office report predicted a dismal summer here in Britain, many tourists are reverting to traditional overseas breaks.
Mr Bradley said: "People are panicking and thinking: 'I thought it was going to be great, it's not, get me out of here.'"
Stag night revellers looking to join those who are leaving the grey skies of the UK behind and jetting off to sunnier climes might opt for a weekend in Greece or Spain.
According to Travelsupermarket.com, there are still "a good number of bargains" on offer in these locations.
