Many a stag party will have kicked off with a relaxing day on the golf course, but most will have seen the participants get in on the action.
However, one group of revellers will not even pick up a club when they visit Loch Lomond for the Barclays Scottish Open this week - although they do plan to make plenty of noise.
Robbie Gibbons will be joined by some of his closest friends as he spends his stag weekend following schoolmate and Scottish golfer Martin Laird around the course and drumming up support from the locals.
Laird, who was the only Scot to make the field for the US Open this year, hopes the backing will help propel him to a famous victory in his homeland.
"They are starting a stag weekend on Friday, about ten or 11 of them, so I'm sure they will be noisy but it will be fun," he said.
"It will be good to have a big crowd."
Laird, who spends most of his time over in the US, has recorded wins in the 2006 San Juan Open and 2007 Athens Regional Foundation Classic, as well as competing twice in the US Open.
