A stag weekend away might provide plenty of good laughs and a party atmosphere, but rarely is it seen as a way to refresh and recharge the batteries.
However, the chairman of one North Shields rugby club has claimed that the recent stag do held by captain Brett Sylph has helped rejuvenate the side in the run-in to the end of the season.
Percy Park RFC narrowly missed out on winning the league title in recent weeks, before also being knocked out of the cup at the semi-final stage.
But with a promotion playoff match still to come and another big cup clash just around the corner, chairman Abi Duhrin told the Journal that Sylph's celebrations have proved the perfect build up.
"Brett's stag do was fantastic," he said.
"It has given the lads fresh legs and a fresh outlook on things and blown away a few cobwebs."
Percy Park's defeat to Tyldesley in the semi-final of the EDF Energy Senior Vase meant they missed out on a dream appearance at Twickenham, but the club will be looking to bounce back by securing promotion this season.
