Stag party groups hoping to plan an
affordable weekend in Europe before Christmas could do a lot worse than head to Vienna, it was suggested today (December 4th).
A survey conducted earlier this year by HolidayExtras.com revealed that 37 per cent of Britons expect to spend at least £50 per day when they are on big-city holidays.
However, Agelika Grzebyta, media manager for the Vienna Tourist Board, explained that the Austrian capital is less expensive than some of its continental rivals.
In addition, she noted that there are a number of lively events coming up in Vienna over the next few weeks which could be ideal for anyone on a stag weekend in the city.
"Vienna is not a cheap destination, but compared to other big cities [it is] still affordable and on a good mid-price range," she said.
"There are also many events or locations that offer free access such as the Danube Island Festival, the Life Ball, the Vienna Music Festival in front of the city hall, all Christmas markets or the New Year's Eve Trail."
Vienna has a population of 1.7 million people, which makes it the tenth-largest city in Europe.
