When the weather's chucking it down like it is now, being in a raft heading down river may be the furthest thing from your mind when you're thinking of fun things to do. However, if you're looking for a stag weekend that breaks away from the norm and will leave the other guys hailing you as king of adventure, then have a think about
white water rafting.
We offer white water rafting in a few locations up and down the country, but one of the hot spots for this activity is
Edinburgh. It works so well with all the other things you need on a stag weekend, i.e. the pubs and the
clubs! As the capital city of Scotland it lies in the south east of the country on the east coast of the Central Belt, near the North Sea. The River Tay and the River Tummel offer some excellent choice of grade 2-4 rapid rides so will suit beginners to those who have more white water experience and are looking for something really hair-raising.
White water rafting has been popular since the seventies, and unlike some of the disco trends we wish had died with the seventies, we're pretty glad white water rafting has survived. For those who don't know, the rapids you're looking for are caused by turbulence in the water from the river's gradient dropping. Basically the water gets aerated and becomes unstable.
Unstable water + a raft full of stags = memorable stag weekend. Don't worry too much though, we've got a venue with an excellent track record and they will look after you and make sure you have all the safety equipment you need to have the best fun possible.
White water rafting is becoming more popular with our stags and sees a general increase in demand for
high adrenaline activities. No longer will a few pints and a
stripper do, and even some stag parties are looking for more adventure than
paintballing and
quad biking. If you've tried the firm favourites and are looking for something completely different, you can't go far wrong than choosing white water rafting in Edinburgh.
Rafting is a great way to build up some thirst and Edinburgh can take you from the watering holes of the rapids to the watering holes of its nightlife. After you've survived the wet wilderness of the
Edinburgh rivers, see if you can survive the night time activity in George Street, New Town and Queen Street.
