Ice Hockey stag weekends: What to expect

About Ice Hockey

Originating in Montreal, Canada, ice hockey has been a professional acknowledged sport since 1900, though amateur ice hockey began in 1800’s. Since then it’s been a nail biting, rough and skill demanding sport to watch all over the world. Not that we want you to watch, we want you to grab your stick (don’t be rude…) and watch the competitive urge heat up on the ice because playing hockey is hard enough but playing it whilst trying to skate on ice is another thing all together! It’s the perfect activity for stags who want to try something different but still sporty, something cold, and just a tad rough. Trust us lads: this frozen sport will be a true test of your athleticism!

What to expect

Chances are if you’re on our stag weekend ice hockey page then you’re looking for something ice hockey related and because we know that some of you would rather watch and actually participate we’ve got two different options for you.

Bratislava

This is the more active of the two options: this is where you and the lads actually get to play the ice hockey. You will get a guide who will tell you all about the history of the game and the stadium as well as give you some tips and pointers. Equipment, so all the pads, sticks, helmets and the ever important puck. A referee who will oversee the game to make sure there is no cheating and that the rules are adhered to.  Finally, you will get the ice rink reserved for two hours, so you will get the real experience! Just make sure you bring some warmer clothes for the rink and a change for after (just in case you slip and your clothes get wet from the ice.)

Brno 

For this version you will get to sit back and watch some ice hockey instead of falling over trying to play it! You and the group will get tickets to a Czech ice-hockey league match. So you can see how the pros play it without breaking an arm or breaking a sweat. Don’t know how the game is played? Fear not: we will supply you with a guide who will be with you for the duration of the activity. Plus we’ll also throw in one beer each per group member so you’ll get to quench your thirst as your shouting and screaming at the team you’re cheering for.
